Good times: final day in paris

Time flies when your in a beautiful place like Paris. It was our last full day here in Paris. We are coming back later in the trip, but maybe only for a day, but we are beginning to get a little sad as we have discovered so many cool things that we just love.
Today we slept in a little, as we had no touristy things that we wanted to do, and finally the heat left and brought in a cool change which made the day nicer.
Today was our shopping day, so we decided we would use the metro, as our bus tour passes were out, and we didn't want to walk all the way to arc de triomphe where the good shopping was. The metro is awesome, a little tricky at 1st, but once u have it down it's amazingly fast. On the bus tour it took ages to get anywhere, and we think if we would have used the metro, we could have seen most of the sites in a day. So yeah, if you come to Paris, use the metro!!!
We had breakfast at this mega famous cake shop called laduree, which ended up being as expensive as dinner, for scrambled eggs, hot chocolate (so strong it could have burnt a hole in the table if spilt), and an assortment of pastries and the best strawberry jam ever. The place was packed with people spending up Huge in there. We saw a lady and a tone of others get at least 200€ worth of yummie things, how insane. I wish I owned that place.
After brekky, shopping was fun, got a few new things, including this crazy frenchy shirt that I like, and which Luke will probably tease me for wearing. Haha also got some shoes from this place that had so many different shoes, and were way cheaper than at home. I was stoked.
After shopping we went home for a nap until around 4pm.
We tried desperately to get on a dinner cruise but missed out 2 nights straight, so we decided to just go on the tour cruise, which was nice. We then walked from the Eiffel tower all the way to the louve, which was very romantic and enjoyable. Maddys feet were a bit sore after that. Near the louve we went on a ride that spun us around and was high. It was soo fun. We saw the louve and all of the cool places from the ride as we spun around.
From the fun ride we went and found some dinner at a little restaurant. The little lady running e place was super nice. We got snails and they were awesome!!!!! There ya go dad, no frog legs, but at least I got to eat snails.
And that ended our last day in paris. It was the funnest day by far, probably because the weather was nice, and we just chilled and walked and talked all day together.
Well tomorrow morning at 12 we fly to Portugal to begin our next little adventure.
Paris has been awesome!!

Eiffel tower, the dissapointment and nutella crepes. Mmmmmm

Well today was meant to storm and stuff, but it ended up a stinker just like yesterday. So we now have 2 coats of sun burn.

Ok, maddy here to type my first ever blog!! So yesterday morning we awoke bright and early to try and get to the Eiffel tower early so that we would skip the lines. In the end we waited for our bus for 45 mins, and took a 1 hour bus ride, so we didn't end up arriving at the eiffel tower until 10am when it was PACKED with people ha ha. We decided to walk up the stairs to the first level cause the line was a little shorter. I almost died, no joke. It was soooo hot and sooo many stairs. But it was worth it, such beautiful views of the city. There was a cafe up there, so we got some cool drinks and snacks and looked out over the city.

Then we got back on our bus to try and go to the catacoumbs, which is quite a treck. We didn't get there until 2pm, and the line was insane! The ppl said we wouldn't make it through before closing at 4pm, so we headed off. Such a bummer. We might try and go this morning early, it's just such a trek.

We went out for a yummy dinner last night at 10:30pm, everyone eats so late here. Streets were alive and crazy at thaT time, pretty cool.

It started raining last night, so I think today will be a bit cooler, YES. Going here for lunch, http://www.laduree.fr/en/maisons/paris jealous much????

Fun in the very hot sun

Hello all
Well our 1st day touring Paris was awesome fun, except the heat which was intense!
Anyway, we are roasted, and look like cooked lobsters.
We started our day with a nice walk down to the louve from our hotel. We got there just before the masses arrived and were able to get into the museum quickly. We were both amazed by how old, and how beautiful it was there. We decided to head to the Mona Lisa, which was cool, and then head back out and visit all the other cool things in the museum. Some of the old paintings are huge and so old, and the mummy in the Egyptian area was awesome.
From here we jumped on the open bus tour, which allows you to get on and off wherever you want, and we did a full loop of Paris. We made the big mistake of sitting up on top of the bus, but the views were amazing. As we went along we felt like we had to pinch ourselves, as we saw so many amazing places that it seemed like a dream. I guess we were experiencing a sensory overload with all the sights we saw and the noises we heard. it was fun. We saw the eifel tower, notre damme and a tonne of other places. at notre dame we got ripped off by this cafe where we were charged 13€ for two glasses of lemonade.. Hahaha.. You do the math.
We were spent after 10 hours of this, and the walk home to the hotel was long and hot. Maddy crashed as soon as we got back, and we accidentally missed dinner, and we really didn't have lunch. It was just too hot to eat.
Well it's time for another day in Paris

Finally in paris

Hi everyone.
We are finally in Paris. It took a 10hour flight to Beijing (which was not fun - just ask hannahs parents who were on the plane too) and a 6 hour stop in Beijing airport and then another long flight to Paris. We arrived at about 6:50 pm and were out of the airport by 6:55. It was weird. We had our passports checked and then just walked out with no checks or anything. We had only carry on baggage, but I could have hid mum in my bag and they wouldn't have known (sorry mum, I didn't know). Anyway, we (well I, jay) decided we would train it to the city, rather than taxi. We got on the RER train easily and had a nice trip into the city bar these 2 guys who were drunk or something looking at us the whole trip. We both got the feeling they were tossing up whether to have a crack at us. We got off and they did too, but I think they caught on that I knew something was up and they left us. Pheww. We didn't realize how multicultural it was here. Nearly everyone on the train was from African descent, and only a handful of other random nationalities. It was quite a shock to what we were expecting. We walked a kilometer or so to our hotel which was fine. The traffic is nuts and the are people doing stuff everywhere, and the building were amazing. Oh and so were the army dudes patrolling the front of the train station with machine guns. Haha. We got to the hotel easy (no wrong turns or anything, im amazing with maps) and it's nice and clean, but tiny. But we didn't expect too much of it. Maddy is a bit overawed by the place so far, it's a lot different to what we expected. Hopefully the touristy areas are like she had imagined. It's really hot, like 30, and was that hot all night. It's 630 in the morning here and I've been up since 4 unable to sleep. Today, Monday, it's meant to be 38 degrees, so we are gonna get cooked. Coming from that cool weather in Sydney to this is awesome, but it's a huge change.
Well we are going to head out for our 1st real day. Maddy just woke up and said hi to everyone. Well, going to sign off.
Hopefully we have some fun things to share in our next post.
