Finally in paris

Hi everyone.
We are finally in Paris. It took a 10hour flight to Beijing (which was not fun - just ask hannahs parents who were on the plane too) and a 6 hour stop in Beijing airport and then another long flight to Paris. We arrived at about 6:50 pm and were out of the airport by 6:55. It was weird. We had our passports checked and then just walked out with no checks or anything. We had only carry on baggage, but I could have hid mum in my bag and they wouldn't have known (sorry mum, I didn't know). Anyway, we (well I, jay) decided we would train it to the city, rather than taxi. We got on the RER train easily and had a nice trip into the city bar these 2 guys who were drunk or something looking at us the whole trip. We both got the feeling they were tossing up whether to have a crack at us. We got off and they did too, but I think they caught on that I knew something was up and they left us. Pheww. We didn't realize how multicultural it was here. Nearly everyone on the train was from African descent, and only a handful of other random nationalities. It was quite a shock to what we were expecting. We walked a kilometer or so to our hotel which was fine. The traffic is nuts and the are people doing stuff everywhere, and the building were amazing. Oh and so were the army dudes patrolling the front of the train station with machine guns. Haha. We got to the hotel easy (no wrong turns or anything, im amazing with maps) and it's nice and clean, but tiny. But we didn't expect too much of it. Maddy is a bit overawed by the place so far, it's a lot different to what we expected. Hopefully the touristy areas are like she had imagined. It's really hot, like 30, and was that hot all night. It's 630 in the morning here and I've been up since 4 unable to sleep. Today, Monday, it's meant to be 38 degrees, so we are gonna get cooked. Coming from that cool weather in Sydney to this is awesome, but it's a huge change.
Well we are going to head out for our 1st real day. Maddy just woke up and said hi to everyone. Well, going to sign off.
Hopefully we have some fun things to share in our next post.

  1. Hi Guys, Glad to hear you have arrived safely. hand luggage was a real bonus in Paris. Seems like the local rail system might not be too safe, anyway you survived intact with a tail to tell. Hope the travel tiredness wears off quickly. Hope you have fun today. You are missed, with love mumxxx
